Yoga Journal, founded in 1975 by the California Yoga Teachers Association, purchased by John Abbott and and now owned by Active Media, is the largest publication covering the popular and fast growing world of yoga.
WHAT WE DID
When John Abbott, a former investment banker at Citicorp and an avid yoga practitioner, purchased the magazine, he brought in Mind Over Media to reposition, redesign and relaunch it. First, we created a market study of the entire burgeoning yoga industry and, based on that, developed a business plan to carry him forward. With that in place, we were involved in every area of the relaunch from branding, design and editorial, to ad sales and distribution. With Yoga Journal's paid circulation up to 350,000, a readership of over 1,000,000, and a portfolio of branded products including a website, conferences, books and dvd's -- John Abbott sold the business to Active Media in 2007.
